Many birds of prey including Golden Eagles & an increasing number of White Tail Sea Eagles are breeding on both Skye & Scalpay. During the spring, in particular, one can see these magnificent birds as well as Red Throated Diver, Merlin, Hen Harrier, Greenshank, Wheatear & Twite. Puffin are seen on the water. The keen birdwatcher will be well rewarded as there is always something to see & enjoy in surroundings & scenery unsurpassed anywhere in the world. On Scalpay the birds are very tame & the bird song enthralling!
